C'mon Baby tell me what's the word?...Codpiece.

Well tonight Maria and I sat in front of our oversized telly and watched the U.S. version of the U.K. show "Hit Me Baby 1 More Time". In it's first 2 weeks, I considered it one of the best "Train-Wreck" shows to ever grace my Tivo powered TV. It had One Hit Wonders such as Tiffany, Vanilla Ice, Flock of Seagulls, The Knack, Tommy Tutone and Loverboy. Most performers (popular in the 80's) have gotten fat, or bald, or both, and very few can any longer hold a note better a 3rd grader in Miss Crabapple's choir. Although first week winner Arrested Development still rocked the party pretty hard. But then came week 3.

In the 3rd installment five acts (Howard Jones, Irene Cara, Sophie B. Hawkins, Wang Chung and Cameo) brought the preverbial house down. Wang Chung got my night started with "Everybody Have Fun Tonight", followed by Sophie with "Damn, I wish I was your Lover", then Cameo tore the floor apart with "Word Up", up next was highly underrated Howard Jones with "No one is to Blame", finally Irene Cara with her Flash Dance hit "What a Feeling". They all proceded to cover current songs with the Highlights for me being Wang Chung surprise choice of Nelly's "Getting Hot in Herr" which they rocked, Cameo's cover of Bowling for Soup's "1985", and Howard Jones' great version of Dido's "White Flag".

Then the audience got to vote and surprise, they picked the worst of the bunch, Irene Cara. Son of a Bitch! Why are there so many stupid people in this country? I can't take it anymore. No wonder the rest of the world hates us so bad, not because of the nonsense war in Iraq, but because we are dumb. I would like to smack each person in that audience with a sweaty Codpiece! To pass up good acts like Cameo, Wang Chung, and Howard Jones and vote for that woman with a voice reminding me of 2 cats trying anal sex for the first time, I fear for the future. Maybe I am the only one that feels this way, and maybe I am also the only person that likes having their privates played with, but I don't think that to be true.
