My Kennywood Adventure.

Well, this past Saturday for me was spent working till 2 then me and Mia headed out to Kennywood Park to spend the rest of the day with Sarah, Abby, Rob, Kelly and Gef. As we drove out, the sun was shining and it was hot as balls, but we were good spirits and I was ready to eat (the only true reason to go to kennywood). We parked and walked to the gates then through the tunnel and there we were, Pittsburgh's first choice in amusement, Kennywood. The rest of the gang had been there for a few hours (as me and Riz could tell by the lobster-like shade of Sarah's skin). After Gef and Abby parked their car on the "Turnpike" we headed to my first stop, the "Potato Patch".

As I stood in line surrounded by 12 yr old girls dressed in bikini tops and shorts made of less fabric than my hat, the winds started to blow and it started to rain, not easy rain but big ol' fat heavy rain. After the girlies smashed me up against the counter like N'sync started serving fries (see there was about 2 feet of awning that myself and 50 other hungry patrons were trying to take cover under) I ordered my fries w/gravy and got Mia hers w/cheese. With fries in hand I proceeded to walk right out into the downpour and toward the small tree Sarah, Dog and Abby were hiding under (after I got my fries, I really didn't care as much about being wet, nothing could stop me from these tasty treats). I delivered Mia's fries to her (about 75 yards away, her and kelly found awning space at the gift shop) so using my left hand as a potato umbrella, I got her fries to her in top-notch condition. As I polished off my last fry, the rain stopped (it was like a sign from above, really, it rained just long enough for my fries to get gobbled up, it was like the heavens stopped time at Kennywood till I finished my first course).

As we walked toward our next stop (corn dogs w/cheese), I lost a couple duckets trying to win a stuffed animal for Abby. The corn dogs went down like water, then we headed toward the bumper cars (see us waiting on the pic page) where me and Abby knocked the hell out of everyone including Gef and Mia. We then made our appointment at the the Scary Garfield ride and cruised on the river inside. At the photo-op toward the end of the ride I decided to throw up the "Shocker". The picture became an instant classic which Sarah had to purchase and can be seen above this post. After all that Bumping and Shocking I was hungry for something sweet, so I made everyone head toward the Funnel Cake stand.

Mia and Gef got sidetracked at the "Racers" as the rest of us got our Cake on. (In my best Arnold Schwarzenegger politician voice) Mmmm the supreme Funnel Cake with the Ice-creams and the Strawberries and the whip creams and the things of this nature...Ohh so tasty. My belly was just starting to tell that there was some sort of food holiday going on, but was ready to throw in the towel...in other words, I was full.

There were a few more rides that got tamed by Abby and the Crew (especially the LogJammer that she rode 3 times in a row). But the light rains kept falling and it was soon time to go find the car. We rode home and almost fell asleep several time (lots of food and fun can do that to a person). But we had a great time and ended up getting Abby a few prizes to take home. Thanks Sarah for forcing me to come!

I am sure I forgot a few juicy details but my fingers are tired from typing this long entry...so Later all-
Patrick

Oh yeah, they got to meet Curt Angle (the wrestler) and had a picture taken with him that you can see here. Leave a comment if you want to hear about our fishing expedition on Sunday.

  • For someone who usually drives me directly up a wall, you sure are freaking funny. Perfect description of a great day. Glad I twisted your arm repeatedly to get you there.

So... tell us about the fishing!
Did you and Gef capsize your boat yet?
